Traditional "Mindfulness" vs. Being Mindful
Being able to recognize and control your thinking is the beginning of self awareness and mindfulness.
It is hard to know how much any other animal is mindful but many scientists are now believing that dolphins and whales may have self awareness, that is, Meta Awareness.
What we do know is humans can be largely mindful.
TRADITIONAL MINDFULNESS
Traditional Mindfulness is more about watching the way your thoughts come and go, the way you think them or they appear. There is no conscious effort to do anything with your thinking other that come to appreciate how it happens within you. One goal is to open your understanding and appreciation about how your Wandering Mind makes you suffer. A second goal after realizing how little control you have, is to become aware that perhaps, your thoughts are not as important as you have made them out to be. Perhaps you need suffer less when you understand your mind more.
All your thoughts will come and go, do you give them power to focus you into unhappiness?
As you mindfully watch your thinking, you will see that:
1. Sometimes, thoughts just come into your mind.
2. And sometimes, you can direct your awareness to think the thoughts you want to think.
When there is quietness the brain often thinks without our conscious control.
Usually when we consciously think, we plan things and create things, we socialize and we seek love.
Now we will look at a different type of Mindfulness where you consciously decide what you think for yourself by not letting the brain think for you. This is a further step into full self awareness and the development of a strong Meta Awareness.
BEING MINDFUL TO INCREASE META AWARENESS
Being Mindful is not the simple observing of your thoughts as in
Traditional Mindfulness.
Being Meta Aware is to take responsibly for being
Mindful in a loving way.
To maximize
mindfulness about love, you must set your intention on
creating loving thoughts and feelings.
Keeping this intention in your awareness will focus you into loving consciousness.
You can ALWAYS use the reminder of
"BILAMAP" to help yourself stay in a loving consciousness.
Keeping The 3 Mindful Practices in the back of your mind,
ready to come to the forefront with any opportunity is to be
Mindful with an Executive Meta Awareness.
It is always behind and above, yet in the forefront when wanted.
